They may not be Dr. Evil’s sharks with frickin’ laser beams on their heads, but the Ukrainian navy is getting something pretty close. The Ukrainian navy is beginning to train dolphins to attack enemy combat swimmers using knives and guns that will be strapped to their heads, Russian news site Ria Novosti reported. The dolphins will be used to defend ships in port and on raids, according to the site. Buoyed by some Hollywood hype, the Navy’s weeklong large-scale training exercise “Solid Curtain/Citadel Shield” generated a bit more excitement today than the annual security drill tends to muster around the Navy town of San Diego. Naval security boats gave chase to a motorboat with gun-toting men racing through San Diego Bay that came dangerously close to the cruiser Princeton as it headed out of the bay. The Michigan State and North Carolina men’s basketball teams will wear school-color camouflage-style uniforms to honor the military during their Nov. 11 Veterans Day clash aboard the aircraft carrier Carl Vinson in San Diego. On Monday, the Spartans showed off the camouflage-patterned unis they’ll wear — white with a light green pattern and bordered with the school’s traditional dark green.
