Three buddies in San Diego want to road trip to the Army-Navy game Saturday, along with a few of their choice possessions.
Cooler? Banjo? Bike rack? Check.
But things get a little tight with their golf clubs – in a two-door coupe.
That’s the premise of a hilarious new spirit spot from a trio of San Diego-based admirals, much of which is sped up like a silent film.
It stars Vice Adms. Tom Rowden, Mike Shoemaker and Nora Tyson. Rowden and Shoemaker are 1982 Naval Academy grads who sport their affiliation with the blue-rim PT shirts worn by mids. Tyson, a Vanderbilt University alum, adds to the hijinks in a Navy Swimming team warm-up jacket.
Watch for the gags, like when Air Boss Shoemaker flashes an “I [heart]aviation” bumper sticker on the back of a body board, or when Surface Navy head Rowden grooves to a boom box stickered with “1110 life,” a reference to surface warfare officers’ designator. (The music also a reference to the mids’ latest viral video, “Naptown Funk.”)
OK, we won’t spoil any more of the jokes. Enjoy the video and watch as the three drive off into the distance, hoping for a 14th consecutive Navy victory that may only be days away.
