Headed to Tailhook

1

The Tailhook Association’s annual symposium for all things naval aviation begins Thursday in Reno, Nev., and I’ll be there checking out the panels, looking at whatever technology contractors put out and otherwise taking it all in.

But I want your help figuring out what to cover. Future aircraft and hardware? Strategy? The impacts of unmanned aviation on manned flight? Naval aviation 10 years after 9/11 and two wars? Training and simulation? Career progression? Cultural issues? Whatever it is, let me know and I’ll look into it.

The best way to reach me is email: jstewart@navytimes.com. If you aren’t going to Tailhook but want the feeling of being there and you also have a very short attention span, you can follow me on Twitter @Jptstewart.

  1. Curious how the Naval Aviation community is responding to the developments in UAV, do they view them as a direct threat to their “in the cockpit” jobs yet?

Also very curious what the community thinks of the coming budget cuts and cost overruns of the F-35C, if I were them I’d be feeling the “Squeeze” right now, with less money available to purchase more and more expensive airframes the entire CSG concept seem under siege.
